Store Manager and Merchandiser

In what is one of the most important years in the history of Battersea Power Station, we are excited to be opening The Battersea Power Station Store located in Circus West Village, launching summer 2017.

Sitting alongside an array of handpicked shops, restaurants and cafes, the brand new store will offer both locals and international tourists a unique collection of Battersea-designed gifts, souvenirs and art prints - all sourced from a host of exciting London creatives and local makers.

We are looking for a talented and experienced Store Manager & Merchandiser to join our team and help us shape the store from launch. You will be responsible for running all BPS store operations, managing an assistant manager/sales assistants and you will play a vital role in establishing exceptional customer service from launch.

Main responsibilities

  • Driving sales in-store and fulfilling online sales
  • Providing the highest standards of customer service
  • Ensuring all your staff maintain excellent standards across all areas
  • Ensuring the highest standards of housekeeping, cleanliness and merchandising are upheld
  • Developing and maintaining excellent stock control systems
  • Maintaining the security of the shop premises, stock and all shop monies
  • Completing and submitting all necessary paperwork to BPS management
  • Any other duties required to achieve the smooth and profitable running of the shop

Key Criteria

You will need to be passionate about fantastic customer service. You will be confident and have a natural approach to both customers and your team. Previous management experience as a Supervisor or Assistant Manager is essential.

You will be an excellent multi-tasker and have a proven ability to prioritise and report directly to the BPS senior leadership team with sales and customer data.

You will have strong administrative skills with the ability to analyse sales figures and identify promotions to help maximise sales. Your confident communication skills will also help build key relationships with suppliers and ensure efficient stock ordering and deliveries to store.

Your creative eye will also ensure the BPS collection is always showcased to a high standard and you will be able to implement branded visual merchandising ideas for both existing and new products.

You will possess a great attention to detail and be confident in sharing new ideas and refinements to help establish an exceptional BPS gift shop experience from the get-go.

Main Duties

SALES & CUSTOMER CARE

  • Setting and meeting standards of excellent customer service
  • Maximising profitability and setting/meeting sales targets - motivating your team to meet these too
  • Handling customer enquiries and special requests (eg. bespoke orders, deliveries etc)
  • Representing BPS at all times in accordance with company guidelines

CASH AND POS MANAGEMENT

  • Setting up a cash register at the start of each day ensuring the float is correct
  • Ensuring enough change is on site at all times
  • Processing sales and payments by cash and card
  • Authorising and processing returns by original method of payment
  • Cashing up and closing a cash register at the end of each day, investigating and resolving cash discrepancies
  • Reporting daily/weekly sales to head office
  • Managing petty cash where required
  • Storing, recording and banking money on a weekly basis - reporting to finance where applicable

PRESENTATION & VISUAL MERCHANDISING

  • Maintaining high standards of cleanliness in the shop at all times, instructing team to ensure best standards are met.
  • Maintaining and implementing new visual displays of products.
  • Ensuring all products and artworks are displayed to a high standard at all times.
  • Ensuring all products and artworks are priced clearly and correctly at all times.

Hours: Full time but need to flexible

STOCK CONTROL

 

Analysing sales on a weekly basis identifying low stock and placing appropriate supplier orders

Identifying slow/no sellers and implementing actions to increase visibility, desirability and sales. Making suggestions for price or other changes where appropriate.

Collating product feedback information from customers and your own observations

Developing and maintaining a strong working relationship with suppliers to the BPS gift shop

Receiving stock deliveries, counting in stock accurately and approving deliveries for invoice payment

Maintaining an organised and easy to use stockroom to ensure quick and efficient access to stock

 

ADMIN

 

Ensuring all payment facilities are up to date and in working order

Making administrative amends to product information on the POS system

Running sales reports using POS system facilities

Maintaining records of sales, staff and store activity

 

 

KNOWLEDGE & SKILLS

 

2-3 years retail management experience

Proven experience of supplier & VM management

Basic knowledge of Vend POS and Shopify’s reporting systems

A genuine interest and passion for Battersea Power Station
